Koh Lanta:
Worldschool Hub
December 12, 2024
Koh Lanta is a lot like Koh Samui was 30 years ago when I first traveled there. There is no airport on the island (the nearest one is 2 hours away by car). And there are no high rise hotels. Koh Samui now has both and is a crowded tourist mecca, particuarly among the party set. That fate won't likely befall Koh Lanta since it is technically a protected National Park, although some have been lobbying to change that.

With the exception of the one or two BLISS Worldschool Hub events we attended in our short trip to Pai, Koh Lanta is the first place on our trip where we have integrated ourselves into the BLISS Community. It was really nice to see the kids develop some relationships with kids their own age - espeically ones from non English speaking countries. And it was equally nice to have a core group of adults to hang out with both during the kid-focused events and for Dads (or Moms) nights out.
The BLISS Worldschool hub is free and there are a host of activities to join as you wish including Ultimate Frisbee Fridays, Futbol (aka Soccer) on Tuesdays, weekly Tween Meet Ups and a Games Day (Minecraft or board games). There are also daily meet ups on the beach arranged by whomever gets to the beach first and puts the word out on WhatsApp.
